Gateway is a master-planned community located just off Interstate 75 between Daniels Parkway and Colonial Blvd. Within the 3,000 acre community are a variety of neighborhoods, schools, parks, trails, golf courses, dog parks, community pools, a soccer complex which houses six fields, dining options, and JetBlue Park, which is the Boston Red Sox spring training facility. An extensive business park holds several company facilities, including Sony, Comcast, Zephyrhills, WilsonMiller, Gartner, DirecTV, and several more. Gateway Subdivisions
Gateway is a community encompassing 3,000 acres, masterfully planned. Within the community, a business park, and fine schools are very near. Because of its enormous area, several builders developed the neighborhoods in the community. Among them are GL Homes, Beazar, WCI, Lennar, Pulte and Centax, which are considered some of the best home developers in Southwest Florida.
Twenty-nine subdivisions have been created in the Gateway community with various home styles offered. Single-family homes are the dominant home style in Gateway and this type of home design is present in the following subdivisions: Bristol Parc, Cypress Cay, Cypress Pointe, Daniels Preserve, Eagle Point, Hampton Park, Hidden Links, Magnolia Lakes, Mahogany Isle, Mahogany Run, Pinecrest, Pinewood Lakes, Sabal Dunes, Silverlakes, Stoneybrook, Timber Ridge, Walden Lakes, and Waterford Village.
Attached villas are the home styles for Devonshire Lakes and Villas at Gateway. Silverlakes and Stoneybrook also have attached villas. Condominium style home are at the Lakeview at Summerwind, Royal Greens, and Summerwind. Coach homes are in Hidden Links and Santa Luz. Callaway Greens and Hampton Greens offer single-family golf homes. Also found in the Stoneybrook sub-community are town homes while detached villas are only in Cottages in Gateway Greens. The homes in the Gateway community have views of the golf course, lakes or preserves. The high-end neighborhoods have more space and privacy with an added gate to the subdivision. Among these exclusive subdivisions are Cypress Links, Cypress Pointe, Daniels Preserve, Hamptons Greens, Hampton Park and Villas at the Gateway. Residents of the Villas at the Gateway can walk their way to the facilities of the Gateway Golf and Country Club including the clubhouse.
Some of the subdivisions have their own amenities like the community pool in the Waterford Village. Stoneybrook has amenities such as an in-line skating rink, fitness center, pool, bocce, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and playground. Hampton Park has its own amenity center including a fitness center with locker rooms as well as a social room for entertainment activities. For outdoor activities, there is a barbecue grill, playground, and a resort-style pool.
Gateway Golfing
A highlight in the Gateway community is the Tom Fazio Par 72, 18-hole championship golf course. There are only 375 members of the club thus making sure that tee times are abundant. The golf area has six sets of tees that include senior tees for ladies and gentlemen, as well as cape cod-styled bunkering and generous fairways. The putting surfaces are usually described to have the finest Bermuda grass greens in the state of Florida. There is also a practice facility that consists of a double-sided range and short game practice area. Within this facility are two practice holes, one is a par 3 while the other a par 4, which are the two most challenging holes in Gateway.
Gateway Amenities
The community includes more than 40 businesses and offers several parks. More than 15 miles of jogging, walking, and biking paths promotes healthy living. Several fitness trails also exist that wind throughout the community that overlook the golf course, many lakes, and nature preserves. Gateway Golf & Country Club has a golf course, designed by Tom Fazio, which is an 18-hole championship course. The club also provides a pool, tennis facility, a top-notch fitness center, and casual and fine dining options to its social and equity members.
The Gateway Commons pool is located on Gateway Blvd. It is a heated pool with a lane designated for laps. For kids, there is a playground and a wading pool. Also located at the pool are covered picnic tables, lounge chairs, and tables with retractable umbrellas. The soccer complex has six fields, which is equipped with a concession area. Anytime there is not league play, these fields are open to residents. Titled the Gateway Fun park, this facility has a playground, basketball court, and sand volleyball court. Also available are BBQ grills and picnic tables. There is plenty of space for frisbee and football tossing as well. For dog owners, the Gateway Dog Park is an added amenity. Located adjacent to the soccer complex, this approximately one acre area is an area where owners are allowed to let their pets run free, legally, without a leash. There are fenced in, designated areas for small or large dogs. Finally, as an added amenity, the Gateway RV & Boat Storage Lot is a place where residents can house their boat or RV. Additional fees apply for this benefit.
The Gateway community is roughly one mile from JetBlue Park, which is the Major League Baseball Boston Red Sox spring training facility. Designed to replicate Boston's Fenway Park, JetBlue Park holds approximately 11,000 people. Six lighted practice fields are used by the Lee County youth sports program.
A new hotel, shopping center, and restaurants are planned as part of the 80 acre development program. In close proximity is Bell Tower Shops and Gulf Coast Town Center. Also close by are popular fishing spots, including the Caloosahatchee River, Fort Myers Beach, Lover's Key, and the islands of Sanibel and Captiva.
